What I've Learned Since Starting Opinion In 2018
Be Patient With Products
The most cliche thing to say but I’ll say it. It’s not a sprint, it's a marathon. When it comes to sales, I have learned to not be upset if something doesn’t do well right off the bat. Some things take time and I can’t necessarily control when people catch onto a certain piece.
Mistakes WILL Happen
I used to spend so much time thinking about the mistakes that I made and how I could’ve changed them instead of looking towards the future. I still think about my mistakes, but not nearly as much, and I know that mistakes are just learning experiences that will better you in the future.
I think the best thing that I’ve done with Opinion is be 100% honest about the process. In my opinion (lol) too many brands only post their success. Creating your own brand doesn’t come without tons and tons of hard times and many mistakes, and I feel like I have shared those ups and downs with you all to the best of my ability.
ALWAYS ask. I would not be where I am right now if I hadn’t asked questions. I was always scared to ask questions, but that’s how you learn. Some of the most basic questions can lead to a conversation that reveals answers that you didn’t even know you had questions about. You will never know what could happen if you never asked in the first place.
Never Forget Why You Started
There are times where I get too caught up in the business side of things and I forget why I really wanted to create Opinion. Life can get so busy and many things can be happening at once which can lead me to forget why I started this brand in the first place, and that was to show people that they can be themselves no matter what others might say. No matter what clothes we come out with, that will always be the message, and I will never lose that.
